The Newcastle Jets Powerchair Football Club were the first club to pick up maximum points with 2 wins over the Western Sydney Wanderers Powerchair Team in Round 2.
In the early match, goals in each half for the Jets, including a strike on debut to Riley Brown earned them a well deserved victory, with the senior side going on to repeat the dose an hour later. Chris Hastas scored a brace, finishing off a crisp counter attack with a slashing strike between defenders. His second came courtesy of a Dimitri Liolio-Davis free kick which he duly nudged home, capping off a perfect weekend for the red and blue.
For the second week in a row, the reserve grade sides of the Sydney FC Powerchair Team and Hills United Football Club found themselves in tense struggles. Each team had surging runs from end to end, fought through intense pressure, but in the end neither side could find their winner. The Premier League match looked to be following the same script, with tough sky blue defence only breached with a scrappy Chris Suffield tap-in seconds before half time. Abdullah Karim doubled the Hills lead with a solo effort of his own, before a second to Suffield off a rapid passing move sealed the points.
The table is tight up the top, with our ladder leaders to meet in the Premier League next weekend, while the Jets look to extend their lead in Reserve Grade.
